J.J. McCarthy – Former LFC Tiger and BGYFL Player gives back to his community

The BGYFL would like to acknowledge and congratulate former Lyons Township Football Club and current Nazareth Academy player J.J. McCarthy for being named the Chicago Bears “High School Allstar” for his performance in week 5. McCarthy threw for 359 yards, including 4 touchdowns in the FIRST HALF! He finished the game with an unbelievable stat line of 18 for 27 passing 425 yards and 5 touchdowns. In addition to the passing touchdowns, he had one rushing touchdown.

As part of winning this award, the Chicago Bears donated $500 to the youth program of McCarthy’s choice. The BGYFL is proud to announce that McCarthy chose to split the award between his home league, Lyons Township Football Club and The Bill George Youth Football League (BGYFL).

J.J. McCarthy starred as a quarterback at LFC for 5 years going on to win the Championship in 2014 for his 8th Grade year. He wowed fans with his work ethic, his humbleness, and his shotgun arm. As a sophomore at Nazareth he continues to make family, friends, Coach Racki, and teammates proud, as a dual threat QB. McCarthy has already begun to receive many scholarship offers including Iowa State, Indiana, Cincinnati, South Carolina and Yale! McCarthy’s character and talent is the goal that all of our 3000 BGYFL players strive for.

Thank you to J.J. McCarthy, the McCarthy family and our beloved Chicago Bears for this generous award.
