The BGYFL is excited to announce Jason Buck will be our key note speaker for the 2019 BGYFL Head Coaches Meeting.
Jason Buck was born in Moses Lake, Washington, to a family of eight children with a rich farming tradition. At three years old his father moved the family to Michigan to farm potatoes. Jason's storybook childhood came crashing down upon him when they lost their farm at six years old. He will never forget the tears in his father's eyes as they stood on the front yard watching the farm equipment being loaded and swore at that moment that he would make things right and nothing in the world would stop him. Jason was asked to grow up very fast. He knew even at that age that the NFL was his answer, and even though athletics was not a part of his family Jason pursued it with every fiber of his soul. The harder life became for him and his family the more determined he was to correct it. Everyday of his life from that point forward was a great challenge of overcoming adversity in almost every imaginable form. You will fight with Jason for his very survival as his family suffers devastating financial hardships, from being homeless and sleeping in the dirt under a hay truck, to bathing in the cattle's watering trough, to finding clothes in the county dump. Fight with him for his dreams, his self- worth, his identity and very survival as he defends himself and his family to all those that looked down upon and ridiculed them and persecuted them. See through Jason's eye's his family falling apart under the pressure. Parents fighting and talking of divorce as siblings start to drop out of high school or run away from home. As his world crumbles around him, fight with him through community, teacher, coach, and teammate persecution, hazing, injuries, tragic death, eventual divorce, and more failures, as no one in the world seemed to believe in him. You will fight side by side with Jason as he fights through insurmountable odds and adversity, from a redneck high school of 25 students in a graduating class to walking on as a quarterback at a local junior college and being forced to leave the team because of having no money for tuition. Going to work at a seed mill for $3.25 an hour while lifting weights every night and coming back two years later to become an All-American defensive lineman and going on to win the Outland Trophy and be drafted the 17th player in the 1st round of the NFL draft to playing in two Super Bowls! This story has the power to change lives! You will never forget this! Since retiring from the NFL Jason has stayed active in the football world by being a trusted sports analyst for the regional CBS, NBC and FOX networks and coaching his two son's as well as being an owner of the Utah Blaze of the Arena Football League. He has also stayed very active speaking and sharing his inspirational story and the principles of success that he lived by to Universities, corporations and groups throughout the United States. This has always been a great love of Jason's and now that his family is older he is aggressively expanding his motivational speaking schedule, writing his autobiography, and completing a documentary film of his life with Phil Tuckett formerly of NFL Films! How they came together is a great story in itself. Jason's number one focus and goal in life has been his wife Roxi of 28 years and his children and grandchildren. Now that his family is older Jason is ready to complete these great projects of his life! The documentary and the book! Jason absolutely loves sharing his life story and truly appreciates the effects it can have on so many people. He has had so many experiences of helping change lives over the years and looks forward to many more years and many more lives changed!
